Portfolio Practice Hours:
Practice immersion assignments are based on your current course objectives, and are intended to be application-based learning using your real-world practice setting. These assignments earn practice immersion hours, and are indicated in the assignment by a Portfolio Practice Hours statement that reminds you, the learner, to enter a corresponding case log in Typhon. Actual clock hours are entered, but the average hours associated with each practice immersion assignment is 10.
You are required to complete your assignment using real-world application. Real-world application requires the use of evidence-based data, contemporary theories, and concepts presented in the course. The culmination of your assignment must present a viable application in a current practice setting. For more information on parameters for practice immersion hours, please refer to DNP resources in the DC Network.
To earn portfolio practice hours, enter the following after the references section of your paper:

Application of Public Health Concepts for the Uninsured
Introduction
There are many public health concepts that can be applied to the uninsured. The first is prevention. Prevention is key in public health, and it can be applied to the uninsured by providing them with information about how to stay healthy and avoiding risky behaviors. Another concept is early detection and treatment. This can be done by providing screenings for the uninsured and making sure they have access to affordable medical care. Finally, community outreach is important for the uninsured. By working with community organizations, we can make sure that the uninsured are getting the services and support they need.
What is Public Health?
Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. It is a field that combines the natural sciences, social sciences, and health sciences to promote health and prevent disease.
There are many different public health concepts that can be applied to improving the health of uninsured individuals and communities. One important concept is community outreach. Community outreach involves working with community members to raise awareness about important health issues, educate them about how to protect their health, and connect them with resources they need to stay healthy.
Another important concept is disease prevention. Disease prevention includes both primary prevention (taking action to prevent a disease from occurring) and secondary prevention (taking action to detecting a disease early and stopping it from progressing). Disease prevention strategies for uninsured populations may include providing screenings and immunizations, as well as education on how to prevent the spread of diseases.
Finally, another key public health concept is population-level interventions. Population-level interventions are designed to improve the health of an entire population, rather than just individuals within that population. They often involve policy changes or other large-scale initiatives. For example, a population-level intervention for improving the health of uninsured individuals could be expanding access to affordable healthcare through legislation or creating community healthcare clinics.
The Impact of Uninsured on Public Health
The number of people without health insurance in the United States has been rising in recent years. The reasons for this increase are many and varied, but the result is the same: more and more people are without access to quality health care. This lack of access can have a serious impact on public health.
For one thing, uninsured people are more likely to postpone or forego needed medical care. This can lead to serious health problems down the road, as well as increased costs for everyone when those problems eventually do need to be treated. Additionally, the continued rise in the number of uninsured Americans puts an ever-increasing strain on our already-overburdened health care system. This can lead to longer wait times for appointments and procedures, as well as less time and attention from doctors and other medical professionals.
It’s important to remember that public health is not just about individual health; it’s about the health of our entire community. When large numbers of people are without access to quality health care, it affects us all. We must work together to find solutions that will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life.
The role of Primary Care in Public Health
Primary care is the entry point for most people into the health care system. It is essential to public health because it provides preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services to individuals and families. Primary care also plays a vital role in health promotion and disease prevention. It helps people stay healthy by providing them with information about how to prevent illness and by detecting early signs of disease. Early detection and treatment of disease can prevent more serious health problems from developing.
Conclusion
There are many uninsured people in the United States, and this can lead to serious public health problems. By applying public health concepts to this population, we can help mitigate some of these issues. Through education and outreach, we can help the uninsured understand how to stay healthy and access care when needed. By working together, we can make a difference in the lives of the uninsured and improve public health for everyone.
