Introduction
Evidence-based practice is a fundamental component of nursing education, research and practice. The purpose of this article is to provide nursing students with an overview of the evidence-based process in order for students to better understand the EBP model.
The PICOT Question
The PICOT question is a template that can be used to guide your research. It stands for Population, Intervention, Comparison and Outcome Timing.
The PICOT question is the first step in developing a research question. It should be written in clear language and include the following elements:

What population are you studying? Who do you want to study? What questions do you want answered about this population?

What intervention(s) have been used on this population previously (if any)? How effective were these interventions at meeting their goals or objectives related to improving health outcomes?

When did we last test whether our intervention was working effectively on subjects within its intended scope at all times across multiple time points during each phase of treatment using multiple measures of progress toward those same goals/objectives over time as well as side effects of treatments received by patients receiving them while they were being evaluated by us before deciding whether or not our current trial aims should continue moving forward with further testing inside labs around world where scientists would try making changes based upon results gathered thus far

You might want to type in your topic into the search box at the top right corner of any article page: “nursing” or “evidence-based practice.” This will take you straight through PubMed, which is one of the most popular sources for nursing research (and one I recommend). Alternatively, if it’s just more convenient for your reading habits then you could also try searching by author name—like “John Doe,” who wrote this article about evidence-based practice in nursing!
Grey Literature
Grey literature is a term used to describe non-traditional sources of information, including reports, guidelines, and other documents that are not published in peer-reviewed journals. The term grey literature can be used in nursing research because it provides an opportunity for nurses to gather information and make decisions about their practice without being bound by the limitations of traditional research methods.

Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs)

They are based on evidence and expert opinion. They’re updated regularly so that you know what’s safe for your patients to do in terms of their health care decisions.
CPGs are used to guide clinical practice—for example, how many units of blood should we transfuse in a hospital setting? How much fluid can we give a patient who has just had open heart surgery? How often should my patient be told about his or her condition? CPGs also guide research—for example, how can we use new technology like artificial intelligence (AI) to improve our ability to diagnose cancerous tumors quickly while avoiding unnecessary biopsies or radiation treatment that could potentially cause harm down the line? Finally, CPGs help educate nurses on how best practices will impact patient outcomes so they can make informed decisions when caring for patients at home after discharge from hospital care
