12368Just as it is important to plan for safety, it is also important to plan for the intentional use of supervision. Keep in mind that clinical supervision, such as what you engage in in field experience, is different from administrative or employment supervision. In an employment setting, you might think of a supervisor as someone focused on the work product. But in the field experience setting, the supervisor is focused instead on you. Their role is to help you develop as a professional, not to manage work quality and job performance. Thus, the relationship should be seen as collaborative and supportive, rather than potentially punitive.
