EBP week 2 DISCUSSION: STARTING THE RESEARCH PROCESS
WEEK 2 DISCUSSION: STARTING THE RESEARCH PROCESS
You are a pediatric nurse working with a facility to increase awareness and understanding concerning childhood immunizations. You notice there is a lack of understanding from parents about the benefit of these immunizations, and you begin to consider how you might research ways to improve immunization rates. You develop a research problem statement and begin to examine the research purpose for possible solutions.
As outlined in the scenario, a research problem statement identifies an area of need in which there is a gap in knowledge or practice, and interest by a nurse researcher. Either from a hypothetical or real-world experience, nursing research problem statements help to focus the research purpose and guide the study of the problem.
*****For this Discussion, you will develop YOUR OWN research problem statement on a TOPIC OF INTEREST to you.(PLS NOT on childhood immunization) Reflect on your personal and academic experiences to consider which research problem you might address.

This weeks discussion should be on a topic of YOUR CHOICE 🙂 It should be original and not from another published article. For example,
For my DNP project (Quality Improvement “QI”), I looked at the incidence of hyperthermia (fever) in injured soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and mortality. My variables were:
Fever
Use of a ventilator
Antibiotic use or non-use
IVF
Tylenol or antipyretics
Death at 30 days, 90 days
etc.
My hypothesis was that the fever was an indicator of SIRS/Sepsis and I wanted to see what the incidence of fever and treatment versus fever and no treatment attributed to mortality. The main purpose was to identify the need and develop a CPG on fever management in flight for the military. Ethical considerations were the fact if they were civilian, active duty or insurgent. The data was de-identified to protect full identity.
So make sure when developing your post you use original thought and not just an article with everything already broken down for you 🙂 Make sure to have adequate resources and 3 separate days of activity for full points.
