Overview
This course focuses on the business sector, commonly called charitable nonprofits. These organizations are classified under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code. Do not use nonprofits categorized under other sections of the IRS tax code for your Final project assignment. Charitable nonprofits:

Are allowed to accept tax-exempt contributions.
Have limits to lobbying activities.
Cannot use their funds to support candidates for public office.
You will study these organizations during this course. You will begin with the one you choose to use for your Final project.
You will look at all aspects of an organization as part of your strategic analysis for the Final project. You will interview an employee, manager, or key volunteer (such as a board member) of the organization. You might even suggest a plan for making the organization more successful.
