Song Contrast Essay

12345Contrast the two versions of the same song. Your essay must use four sources (newspaper articles, reviews, informational essay, interviews, definitions from reference works, etc…) that you find through the RCTC Library Web page. Beyond these four sources, you may also include as
many resources from the Web or other libraries as you like, and you must also cite your two songs. All resources will need to be
carefully cited using MLA guidelines. Make a list of the differences between the songs, and try to come up with a thesis you can argue about the differences between the two songs. Remember, readers won’t be interested in your contrast essay unless it has a point. Don’t just contrast for the sake of showing differences; instead, contrast in order to make a point about the songs and their impacts. Create a thesis sentence for your essay that includes a plan. Be sure to include a clear thesis sentence. Consider using some of the facts that you learned in your research to help get your reader’s attention. Also try to use the funnel technique to introduce your topic gradually. Include several supporting paragraphs that contain transitions, supporting statements, evidence or examples, and explanations (in other words, use the SEE pattern). Organize your body paragraphs according to the point-by-point or the subject-by-subject organizational technique. Also be sure to use transition words to connect the ideas within and between your paragraphs. End your essay with a concluding paragraph
that sums up your main ideas and restates your thesis while suggesting the larger importance of your essay. Be sure to leave your
reader with a sense of closure. PLEASE READ ATTACHED FILE FOR MORE INFO ON REQUIREMENTS OF ESSAY.
