A table of contents with page numbers
Section headings
Within the 1,000-1,250 word handbook, include at least one paragraph for each of the following section headings:
First Language Acquisition Theories: Description of first language acquisition theories.
Second Language Acquisition Theories: Description of second language acquisition theories, including at minimum those of Krashen and Cummins, and a brief summary comparing first and second language acquisition theories.
Stages of Second Language Acquisition: Description of the stages of second language acquisition.
Application of Second Language Acquisition Theories: Explanation of how second language acquisition theories and the developmental process of language applies to setting expectations for and facilitating language learning.
Language Processes: Explanation of language processes, specifically interlanguage and code-switching/translanguaging, and how knowledge of these processes can help in monitoring English language learning.
English Language Structures: Discussion of how the knowledge of English language structures in different discourse contexts (oral or written) can promote the acquisition of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across content areas. You may determine the English language structures to include and how to categorize them in this section. English language structures may include but are not limited to the following: phonemes, morphemes, syntax and grammar, semantics, pragmatics, etc.
Factors That Influence Second Language Acquisition: Description of factors that influence a learner’s use and acquisition of a second language.
