12313Purpose of the Assignment: The purpose of the evidence-based/evidence-based management (EBP/EBM) paper is to use the principles and context of EBP/EBM as part of an approach to evaluate nursing practice, policy, or procedure in light of current evidence and make recommendations for change/improvement. This provides an introduction as to how a healthcare organization might develop a QI project that is based on best practices.

Selection of Three Appropriate Published Single Studies that Relate to the Question
In this section of the paper you need to identify the three articles (each article should be a single study paper; no systematic reviews or meta-analysis articles) you are using for the paper by providing complete APA citations in the reference section of the paper and then using APA in-text citations in this section and throughout the paper. List the articles in this section, using the APA reference. Identify whether the articles you are reviewing are qualitative or quantitative. Publication dates should be less than 5 years old.

Address the following questions in your written paper. State each question as a heading and then add your critique responses to the questions. If a question does not apply, state this and explain why it does not apply:
What studies did you select, and are they quantitative or qualitative?
How much variation was there and how were the interventions(s) delivered in the three studies you selected?
How much variation was there in the outcome(s) studied across the three selected studies?
What findings are supported by the selected studies?
What findings are supported by at least one study but not the others, but are compelling? Why are they compelling?

Of the consistent findings, were any of the studies’ interventions significant?

Using the above criteria and the ranking levels described in your text, make a determination of whether sufficient evidence exists to support either current practice or a need to change the practice to improve care. This should then directly related to the next section of the assignment. Remember, that in a real practice situation, three studies would not be enough evidence to make a firm decision.

Describe the change you recommended based on the evidence you have in no more than one or two paragraphs. This should be clear and specific. Based on your brief review of literature and your appraisal, what is the recommended change(s)?
