Assignment on the religious and social diversity in the US (and in the world)

Topic: Religious and Social Landscape of the US and the World

(This is a research paper: use google to find data)

60% of the grade (your data)

40% of the grade (your reflection on the data)

Important information:

Use cyberlibrary (or internet) for your research, and mention the website used and the year of population estimate. It is your duty to select credible sources of information (credible web sites)

You shall write a minimum of 3 pages (single space) in total for this paper (2 pages for the data and 1 page for your reflection or reaction to the data). But if you write more pages, it is ok. Use any format you see fit

You shall provide the data of your research and articulate a personal reflection on your discovery. By reflection I mean, for instance, comparing what you thought of our world before and after your research, comparing the population of different religions, comparing the religious population of different countries or continents, identifying what struck you the most in your new found knowledge, reflecting on the social implications, articulating some questions that the data raised in your mind, etc

Explain how this assignment helped you achieve the educational goals of our university and helped you understand the goals of this course. (For the definitions of the educational goals see the syllabus)

While addressing the questions of this assignment, the population of believers should be estimated in millions and in % in comparison to the total population of a given country or continent, and you shall specifically mention in your paper the general population of countries or continents concerned.

This paper has 4 parts: part 1 is about Diversity at CSU; part 2 is about the level of education of the American people; part 3 deals with the religious landscape, and finally part 4 looks at the social issues which call into question the conscience of believers.

PART 1. DIVERSITY AT CSUN

How many Latinx or Hispanics, Asian Americans, Native Americans, African Americans and Caucasians do we have in the USA, in CALIFORNIA, in LOS ANGELES (in millions and %)

How many female and male students do we have at CSUN?

How many female and male professors do we have at CSUN?

How many Native American students and professors at CSUN?

How many Hispanic students? (and how many professors)?

How many African American students? (and how many professors?)

How many Asian students? (and how many professors)?

How many Caucasian students? (and how many professors)?

PART 2. THE EDUCATIONAL LEVEL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

SCHOOL FEES

How much money do students pay to have access to education at CSUN, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, in British universities (Oxford, Cambridge), in French Universities, in German universities, in Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark)?

EDUCATION OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE:

How many people have got a college education level in the US and in particular how many have a master degree and a doctoral degree? (in numbers and %)

Identify the level of education of US presidents, Senators and members of Congress (the House).

IMMIGRANTS:

How many immigrants from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America do we have in the US?

Provide numbers and % for each group in recent history.

Compare and contrast the level of education of new immigrants from Europe and from Africa, and compare that to the educational level of the general American population. Provide data, sources of information and write your reflection.
