Job satisfaction is achieved through what Herzberg would categorize as motivational factors (personal growth; responsibility; the work itself; opportunities for achievement, advancement, recognition; and/or to make a positive difference) rather than hygiene factors (status, salary, job security, types of supervision, etc.).
