For the third part of the strategy report, conduct a Five Forces analysis for the company you selected. You may have come across Michael Porter’s Five Forces in a previous class. If not, there are a number of helpful online sources, like this one or this one. Essentially, I’m looking for a paper with five sections covering the following topics: threat of new entrants, threat of substitutes, bargaining power of customers, bargaining power of suppliers, and industry rivalry. How is your company competitively impacted by companies and customers in their market? Surprisingly, the Wikipedia page for Porter’s Five Forces Analysis has a very nice list of factors to consider in each of the five sections.

I would also suggest looking at annual reports or other financial filings (like 10-K filings with the SEC). If your company is publicly traded, try Googling the company name and “10-K”. That should bring you to the company’s investor website.

Just like with SWOT analyses, there are many websites that post Five Forces analyses for different companies. Here are some Five Forces analyses I found for Netflix. Those are not appropriate sources for a college research report. The information may be several years old, and often those websites don’t list their references. And the point of this assignment is for you to do a Five Forces analysis, not rely on the work that others have done. DO NOT REFERENCE ONLINE FIVE FORCES ANALYSES IN YOUR REPORT.
