Generational differences in the use of campus provided and general information tools by students at Arab East College for personal and academic concept learning. A concept is a mental representation of a class of objects or events that share one or more common properties. Some concepts are fairly concrete (e.g., the concept red refers to a certain range of light wavelengths). Other concepts are more abstract and are more difficult to define down in terms of specific, observable characteristics (e.g., the concept freedom is defined by the lack of physical and social constraints on one’s behavior). Concrete concepts are learned more quickly and easily than abstract ones. Throughout one’s life, an individual has to learn about concepts. In school, you often have to research a new concept and write a report about it or describe it in a presentation (such as a new trend in your field). However, you often also learn about concepts on your own: to understand current events, become involved in a hobby, or learn something that is important in life (such as how to protect yourself and your family during COVID-19). For this interview, it is important you think about at least one concept that you have had to research recently as part of an academic assignment or duty. Also, you should think about at least one concept that you have personally researched that is unrelated to your academic life: it does not need to be a serious or important topic; it just needs to be something that was of interest to you and that you are willing to discuss. The questions you will be asked will refer to these different examples. If you have any questions about the topic or the interview questions you can contact me.
