A Social Problem is an issue within the society that makes it difficult for people to achieve their full potential. The Philippines is a country with a lot of social problems. These include environmental degradation, unemployment, inequality, corruption, and lack of access to education. These problems often lead to poverty and desperation as people struggle to make ends meet. Additionally, they can lead to crime. The government and other institutions need to address these issues in order to improve the lives of Filipinos and the whole country as a whole.
A Social Problem is any condition or behavior that has negative consequences for large numbers of people and that is generally recognized as a condition or behavior that needs to be addressed.
Poverty, unemployment, unequal opportunity, racism, and malnutrition are examples of social problems. So are substandard housing, employment discrimination, and child abuse are also examples of social problems. Not only do social problems affect many people directly, but they also affect all of us indirectly.

Gather knowledge and research about the issue and consider it’s cause/s
Be able to answer the questions;
WHO is suffering?
WHAT are they suffering from?
WHEN did the suffering start?

HOW many people are affected?
Once you have identified the problem, try to determine what causes it.
Main Causes of Social Problem
Unemployment – occurs when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work. Unemployment is one of the causes of social problems it leads to the frustration. Due to unemployment, problems like burglary, loot, murder, theft arises.
Poverty – is the lack of a certain amount of material possessions or money. It includes social economic, and political elements. Poverty causes lack of food, health services and others. Rural people in Nepal generally have large families, very small landholdings or none at all, and high rates of illiteracy. Because of poor growth in the agricultural sector, living standards in rural areas causes poverty. The growing population has put heavy pressure on cultivable land.
Urbanization – is the population shift from rural to urban areas. Urbanization creates enormous social economic and environmental changes, which provide an opportunity for sustainability with the potential to use resources more efficiently. It is the cause of social problems. It is believed that living in a city can provide opportunities, diversity, and marketplace competition. As against this, there may be stress, increase cost of living, and negative social aspects that result from a mass.
Lack of Education – is one of the causes of social problems. People without good education are at risk from a lifetime of poor diet, long manual working and worsening mental health. Lack of Education can have serious effects on children and adults and can affect health, living condition and social situations. Due to lack of education, people do not take care of themselves because they are less educated about topics such as family planning and proper hygiene.
Gender Discrimination – our society is highly influenced by gender discrimination. Most of the domestic decisions are finalized by the males. Most of the time discrimination may not be visible on the surface. Even our religious scriptures are considered full of such stories which show women under the subjugation of their male counterpart.
Crime – either it is organize or unorganized if it effects society one or the other way it is termed as social problem. As crime is a violation of given law and creates a state of tension in the smoothly running society that’s why it is labeled as one of the biggest social problem in the Philippines.

Unemployment
A situation where a person actively searches for employment but is unable to find work. It is also considered to be a key measure of the health of the economy.
People are classified as unemployed if they do not have a job, have actively looked for work is the prior for weeks, and are currently available for work.

These include, recessions, depressions, technological improvements, job outsourcing
and voluntary leaving one job to find another.

In the Philippines is attributed to reasons including over population, oversupply of labour force on certain industries and the inability to take on available jobs. Unemployment cause can result in dept and poverty.

Between 1972 and 1979, the Philippines enjoyed its best economic development since 1945. But the level of economic growth was not sustained, and by the end of 1979, export prices were falling and the Philippines was sliding slowly into a severe recession.
Where ?
The root causes of poverty aren’t only a lack of access to basic necessities of life like water, food, shelter, education, or healthcare. Inequities including gender or ethnic discrimination, poor governance, conflict, exploitation, and domestic violence also cause poverty.
Why ?
There are many people who are poor because of the high cost of goods and low wages, poor management by the government, no good programs for work but many fees and sports systems. Filipinos have a unique talent, hardworking and strategic that’s the reason why Filipinos are preferred in other countries.
How ?
Some policy solutions to poverty include sustaining economic growth, increasing employment opportunities, maintaining a minimum wage rate, and the re-introduction of progressive taxes.
