“Getting your feet wet” and having some fun with rhythms plus a better understanding between a beat and a rhythm:
A: The “Beat” is the simplest part of music!! It is like a steady heartbeat. It requires a foot tap, and a head bob but does not require any brain work unless a person’s brains happen to be in their feet. Hopefully you (LOL)
Rhythm, on the other hand, may be the most complex part of all music especially when written on music paper that must be played as written.

Watch Meg describe the difference between a Beat and Rhythm: Participate with Meg in this video and especially focus on timestamp 3:45 to the end. Remember that the beat is like a heartbeat and never changes unless the tempo makes it faster or slower. When people claim that they love the beat, they are referring to the rhythm and rhythm section. If the “beat” excites you then a constant water faucet drip or a steady jackhammer sound should thrill you.
Answer this: By using timestamps at least two sets of timestamps as evidence, at what point in the video did you begin to understand, comprehend and feel confident grasping the difference between a steady and never changing beat and the changing lengths of rhythms? Provide at least a two-sentence explanation.
(5 pt.) Music Lesson: Beat vs Rhythm –Sing! Step! Grow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHMDOOHJwyM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHMDOOHJwyM
Focus from timestamp 2:31 to 3:03 Poem, “Keep the beat, yes!” The beat is steady: Begin by tapping your foot on each word of the poem. That is your beat. In vocal music, the rhythm of word syllables helps create the melody produced by the syllables as the beat remains the same. In the first part of the video at 2:31 to 3:03, each word is one beat (foot tap) long. That’s why this music sounds robotic and can lead to long-lasting boredom or the urge to run away from the sound. Yet, people claim to “love the beat”. What they really love is the rhythm of the music. If the beat excites you then I suggest recording a steady drip from the water faucet, putting it in a loop, turning up the sound, and boring yourself to death.
Next: At timestamp 3:07 to 3:23 continue tapping the steady beat with your foot. Beats are visually provided by colored circles. Listen to the rhythm of the words as you tap the beat. Rhythms are various lengths of sound during the beat. Speak the rhythms with the video voice. You may need to try it more than once.
Answer this: How did the two timestamp examples solidify the difference between beat and most rhythms?

Answer this two-part question: from timestamp 0:32 to 1:14 follow and read the rap rhythm created by the words, as you tap the beat with the foot. Keep in mind there is no melody but there are rhythmic patterns. How does this example further clarify the beat from rhythms? Now

Yet the beat keeps going with its typical robotic sound. You can also watch the “beat” spaced visually with very tall vertical lines continuing even when the rhythms enter at timestamp 00:12. Answer this: What was the best takeaway clarifying a beat from rhythms?

Answer this: Focus and briefly address each of the 10 very short timestamps and what you gleaned from them. Always include the music used for the demonstration. Timestamps 0:06-0:14; 0:15-0:26; 0:27-1:02; 1:03-1:17; 1:18-1:41; 1:42-1:59; 2:00-2:15; 2:16-2:41; 2:48-3:00; I have found that when timestamps are not provided, most students miss more than70% of the concepts. One more thing: Music written in minor scales are not “sad” unless the composers make them so.
