Answer the following prompt in a thesis-based essay:
Analyze the effects of trade on Asia and the Americas before the year 1200 CE. How did access to long-distance routes, or the lack thereof, impact civilizations living on those continents? Identify and examine the technologies with the greatest impacts that developed during this period because of cross-cultural exchange.
A robust treatment might consider some of the following aspects: geography, transportation, commerce, social structures, politics, writing, and arts. Please note that your analysis is not solely limited to these points nor will it include them all.

Simply placing the author’s name is not sufficient. Your document will be evaluated using the rubric in the syllabus.

Unless placed inside quotation marks and followed by a full citation, all ideas and words need to be your own. Do not forget that paraphrased passages must also be properly cited.
