You will come up with a total of 30 questions: 15 questions each.
1. There will be a total of 30 questions for this assignment.
i. You will come up with 15 questions for your partner
ii. Your partner will come up with 15 questions for you
iii. You must submit both sets of questions
iv. Only the questions that your partner asked you and that you responded to will be
graded
2. Each question is worth 2 points
You will be graded per question
i. Two sets of questions must be developed
ii. Do not ask each other the same questions
iii. Note: The quality of your responses to the questions is important. You will be graded
on the quality of your responses. Think about how you can respond to the questions to
help someone get to know you better. For example, if you are asked “what is your
favorite color?” If you respond “Red,” that will get you less than .5% of the grade for
that question. But if you explain why red is your favorite color and elaborate on the
meaning of the color red in your life, you will be providing a more substantive
response.
3. Interview Time and Place
You must schedule a time to discuss the questions with your partner.
a. You must discuss this in the paper that you submit. For example, you must include how
you decided on the time and where you met to do this interview.

a. The interview is not simply an activity in futility. It is a legitimate part of the self-
disclosure process, and your paper will be graded as such. As you studied in your book,
Personal Interview Project/Paper
self-disclosure is how we allow others to get to know us (and how we get to know
ourselves). What have you learned from this process?
b. Since this project requires you to share some personal information, you must be very
selective about with whom you will engage in this interview process. Please note that you
are responsible for the person you select. Since this is a class project, your professor
cannot be held liable if you disclose information that you may later regret. You are
encouraged to think about the following questions as you make your decisions:
i. Why did you select this person?
ii. Do you know this person well? Does this person know you well?
iii. What do you have to gain/lose if you share information with this person?
iv. Are there aspects of you that you would you not want this person to know?
v. Are there questions that this person could/would ask you that would/could make you
happy, joyful, and exhilarated to respond to?
vi. Are there questions that this person could/would ask you that would/could make you
feel uncomfortable, intimidated, disappointed, sad, ashamed, and may make you not
want to answer?
vii. Are there negative consequences if you share information with this person,
especially if you do not know the person well?
Disclaimer: As you engage with your partner, you should gauge the situation before revealing
information about yourself. Your professor cannot be held responsible if you share information and then
regret it. Please be prudent about how you engage others. These are only some of the questions I
encourage you to think about (and even write about in your paper) in this project.
