The skill of being an effective writer takes time and needs to be supported and scaffolded through multiple lessons and content areas. Teachers of ELLs must be able to evaluate student writing to plan appropriate strategies for supporting writing in various contexts for all proficiency levels.
Review the three writing samples found in the textbook in this week’s chapter reading, Examples 8.3-8.5. Evaluate the writing samples by completing the “Six Traits of Writing Template,” and provide instructional strategies that would support the students’ writing needs.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
