Abstract
The cost difference between shipping goods to retailers and returning them to manufacturing can have a significant impact on a company’s bottom line. Shipping goods to retailers typically incurs lower costs due to economies of scale, streamlined logistics and established supply chain networks. However, returning goods to manufacturing can be costly due to transportation, handling, and inventory management expenses. In addition, the cost of returned goods can be further increased by the need to refurbish, repair, or dispose of damaged or unsold products. Companies must carefully evaluate these costs and implement effective strategies to minimize the expenses associated with returning goods to manufacturing.
