Guidelines for Section of ACA Code of Ethics Essay

Students are to choose one section that is of interest of the ACA Code of Ethics (2014) and will submit an essay about the selected section that addresses the following:

• Why the section was chosen

• An overview and summary of the section

• The importance of ethical behavior and practice in regard to the topic area(s) discussed in

the section

• How the content of the section relates to school counseling and the ASCA Ethical

Standards for School Counselors (2022)

• Observations, thoughts, reactions to the section’s content (to include ideas and

suggestions as to how the content of the section could be enhanced)

The essay must be APA-formatted (i.e., title page, three to five pages of text, and references page

[no Abstract required]) and word processed, spell-checked, proof-read, and edited prior to

submission. Emphasis will be extended to the below items when evaluating the paper:

• evidence of focus

• organization

• clarity of expression

• style

• content
