Please think through the two questions below and share your ideas with your group members. Your initial discussion post is due Apr. 2. You will then share your reactions to two or more of your group members’ posts. Your responses to at least two group members’ posts are due Apr. 9.

1. Over the last few decades, cultures increased in interconnectedness, individualism, and intelligence. Pick one of these changes that you expect to persist in the following decades. Explain why you would predict this change to continue.

2. Imagine you want to test this prediction. If you were to conduct a cross-cultural study on your prediction, who would you collect data from? Based on Henrich, Heine, Norenzayan, 2010, what would be a sample that is not “WEIRD”?

Important notes on discussions:

The goal of the discussions is to get you to think about the material in ways that apply to current research, events, or daily life. I recommend you answer the discussion question after you do the readings and go over the material to be able to give more well-thought responses.
It is extremely important that in your discussions, you show respect to other group members. Your answers cannot break any UWGB policies or disrupt the learning of your group members.
The goal of this discussion is to get you to think of applying the concepts we covered. You are not expected to write lengthy answers or fully designed studies. I will not be grading for style or grammar as long as your writing is intelligible and coherent. Think of the discussions as learning opportunities and opportunities to interact with your group members rather than tests of ability.
It is crucial that you are providing your own ideas.
