1)Changes that occurred in police organizations because of 9/11 to respond to terrorism besides raising questions about security, privacy and treatment to prisoners. Because of 9/11 U.S. immigration policies were reshaped which what let to what most called discrimination and racial profiling, which caused a domino effect including hate crimes. After 9ll billions were spent by the department of justice on improving it’s ability to identify, penetrate and dismantle terrorist plots, spending on structural reform. 9/11 adding more stress to policing, police had to not only look out for domestic crimes they started being alert for terrorist also. For example, right after 9/11 if a police spotted an Arab or anyone from that side of the world, they become alert and started racial profiling. More emphasis were put on potential terrorist than domestic crimes.
Some of the police executive’s primary roles are interpersonal, the figurehead, leadership and liaison duties. The informational which are monitoring, dissemination and spokesperson duties and the Decision making role. The decision making role as an entrepreneur, a disturbance handler, a resource allocator and a negotiator.

The reason for NSD/ or NSD structure is designed to fuse the authorities and capabilities of the law enforcement and intelligence communities to strengthen the governments national security efforts. With now having the NSD in placed they have accomplished: improving the coordination between prosecutors and law enforcement agencies, on the one hand, and intelligence attorneys and the intelligence Community, on the other. Developed and promoted a national counterrorism enforcement program that has yielded prosecution against hundreds of defendants as a result of collaboration with department leadership. In my belief, I believed that 9/11 has changed the way policing is now just for the simple fact that is now inquires that the FBI undertaken the most significant transformation in its history. It has made the bureau restructured its operations in order to better detect, penetrate and dismantle any terrorist attack.
The departments budget for intelligence and counterrorism has more than quadrupled, spending more than $3 billion since 2006, and more through funding streams that are difficult to quantify. Which includes federal grants and the secretive Police Foundation, a nonprofit that funnels money and equipment to the department from benefactors and donors.

– There are three roles of the chief executive officers (CEO). The first role is the interpersonal role which includes figurehead, leadership, and liaison duties. The second role is the informational role which involves the police executive in monitoring/inspecting and disseminating information and acting as the spokesperson. The third and final role is the decision-making role. And all of this is according to the Mintzberg model of police executive. The first role in Mintzberg Model of a police executive is figure heading, leadership, and liaison duties. This means you are the face of the precinct, which you are the one who attends parades, graduations, speeches, swearing in new recruits, and meetings with foreign dignitaries. As for, the Second role informational role monitoring or inspecting dissemination information while acting as a spokesperson. They are also constantly looking at the workings of the department to ensure that things are operating as smoothly as possible. Along with disseminating of information tasks involves both getting information to members of the depart and to the public. And the third role is decision making. As a decision maker, the police executive serves as an entrepreneur, a disturbance handler, a resource allocator, and a negotiator. The police executive must be able to handle all situations quickly and completely in order to keep a minor problem from becoming a major problem.
