Two Aspects of my life that I would like to Change
The two aspects of my life that I plan to improve are time management and exercising more. I took two weeks to conduct a self-assessment, and these two areas are holding me back from becoming a top student. I plan to utilize the goal-setting theory we learned in class to set clear goals, improve time management, and exercise more.
The goals-setting theory focuses on developing specific, measurable, and attainable goals to increase productivity and performance. In this change proposal, I will discuss the two aspects of my life that I need to improve in, the main reasons, the best and worst possible outcomes that if I o or do not take action, the situation I am in right now and the place I plan to be when this project ends.
Aspect 1: Time Management
Time management is the first aspect to would like to change to become a top-performing student. Time management is a process that requires a person to plan, organize, and allocate their time well for them to accomplish their set objectives. As a student, I have been struggling with effectively managing my time which has made me a victim of procrastination. Procrastination has become a habit that has made me miss deadlines for my assignments and forget important meetings and classes. I took time to analyze how I used my time and discovered that there are areas where I could use my time effectively to increase my productivity and achieve my goals.
Lack of time management has created a ton of problems in my student life. Most of the time, I am overwhelmed with the school workload, which makes me very stressed. On many occasions, I do my assignments in a hurry which compromises the quality of the work I submit to my professors. As a result, I end up getting low marks on my assignments. Thus, this self-development project is the key that will guide me to become a better time manager.
The best possible outcomes that would result from my having good time management are submitting my assignments on time, doing quality work, attending classes on time, being productive, improving my grades, reducing stress, and having a balanced school life where I have time for social life. In contrast, the worst possible outcomes that could result having poor time management is missing classes, attending classes late, missing assignment deadlines, submitting poor quality assignments, lack of social life, high-stress levels, poor grades, and having issues with my parents because of low performance.
My current situation is I feel overwhelmed with the school workload. I have poor time management because I procrastinate on schoolwork until the last minute and get stressed over it. During this time, I cant leave my room to hang out with my friends, which makes me feel unhinged. Time management is a huge problem, so I have set goals to improve. The first goal is to spend 10 minutes every morning when I wake up to make a list of priorities that I need to do, starting with the most important ones.
The second goal is to download a time management app that reminds me what I need to do every time. The last goal is to minimize distractions like reducing screen time because I have recently been binge watching my favorite shows. My goals align with the goal-setting theory because they are specific, measurable, and provide feedback.
Aspect 2: Exercising More
The second aspect of my life I need to do better is incorporate more exercise. Exercising is doing physical activities to improve or maintain physical fitness and health. Exercising has many advantages in a student’s life, such as improving overall health and well-being and increasing energy levels. I have been having difficulties in maintaining a consistent exercise routine because I do not see it as a priority. I want to begin a consistent exercise journey to become physically fit and energized to study better.
The best possible outcomes from exercising are improved physical fitness, mental health, and energy. More exercise keeps me in great shape, which boosts my mental health and energy levels. The worst possible outcomes of not exercising more are feeling sluggish, unhealthy weight gain, and having low energy. My current exercising situation is not effective because I rarely go to the gym. I only went twice the last month when I am supposed to go at least thrice a week. This shows that I am inconsistent and need to step it up.
I have used the goal-setting theory to set goals that will help me exercise more. The first goal is to exercise for one hour on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, which will be a combination of Cardio and aerobics. The second goal is to download a fitness application that keeps my fitness schedule and tracks my progress. These goals align with the goal-setting theory because they are specific and attainable.
Conclusion
The two aspects of my life I plan to improve are time management and exercising more. I have created goals guided by the goal-setting theory to help me manage my time better and exercise more. Becoming a better time manager and exercising will help me become a better student, improve my grades, and boost my mental and physical health.
HRM360 PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT The goal of this project is threefold: first, to change the aspects of yourself that you have always wanted to; second, to know who you are; and third, to use that information to your advantage when you actually start applying for jobs. Over this course, you have been asked to take multiple surveys that should give insight into who you are as well as how you behave in work settings. This assignment requires you to extend on that knowledge and learn how to present an authentic and improved version of yourself to employers?since it is in yours and your future organizations best interests that both sides present a realistic and honest picture of who both parties really are. What are the goals you intend to set to change this part of yourself? Discuss how your goals you set are in accordance with goal setting theory. These goals should be (1) difficult but attainable, (2) specific and concrete, and (3) will provide feedback about your goal progress. You can also use tools like the small steps? approach or the If … then? approaches to setting your goals. Small steps. Assume you want to change your personality to be less anxious / depressed. An example of a small steps? approach might be: I will spend 2 minutes writing about what went right about my day each day.? If … then.
