39171Academic Integrity
All written work is required to be referenced. That is, formally acknowledging the source of ideas, quotes, or facts gained from other authors and which are used directly or indirectly in the text of your papers. The American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style must be used for all in-text citations, references, figures, and tables. For more information, you may refer to https://libguides.suss.edu.sg/apa.
Honesty and integrity are the foundations of all forms of academic work, including at SUSS. Direct lifting of texts without acknowledgment is plagiarism, and disciplinary action will be taken. Students are advised to synthesise and rephrase ideas in your own words.

Details of Assignment
1. Background
Your boss just came back from a HRM conference. He is keen to learn more about the latest application of people management theories and concepts in organizations. Over lunch, he asked you to prepare a Report on “Managerial Ethics in Organizations”.
2. Your Task
To write the report, you are to examine Hodgson’s General Moral Principles for Managers.
For this assignment, select THREE (3) articles from the popular press (e.g., newspapers, magazines, reports, journals, the internet) that reflect the themes relevant to Hodgson’s General Moral Principles for Managers (refer to Table 1-4 in your textbook). Insightfully analyze each article, using perspectives and information covered in classes and in the course notes.
Each selected article must not be (a) less than 800 words and (b) must not be published before 2010.
A direct link to each of the three articles should be embedded in the Report. If this is not feasible, provide web links or append copies of the articles as appendices at the back of the Report.
II. Report Format
3. Organization of Report. While there is no fixed format that you must follow to organize or structure your Report, you are required to cover the following elements:
(a) Introduction (no more than 350 words) — Describe and provide an overview of the subject Managerial Ethics in Organizations, and explain why it is of importance to managers and/or organizations.
(b) Main content (no more than 1,200 words in total; around 400 words for each article) – You should focus on one article at a time. Illustrate each piece of work by identifying the issue(s) or theme(s) reflected in the article. Examine whether the practice/approach is appropriate and/or adequate. If the article presents an opinion or a point of view, discuss the extent you agree or disagree with the writer’s viewpoint, explaining the basis for your agreement or disagreement. Relate the discussions/findings from the articles to Hodgson’s General Moral Principles for Managers. Examine these discussions/findings in relation to Table 1-4 in your textbook.
Your conclusion (no more than 650 words) – Conclusion is opinion based on your findings. You should not take other people’s findings at face value. Do you agree with the authors’ interpretations? Evaluate and determine for yourself whether their reflections/conclusions are justified based on the data and arguments they presented.
In addition to restating the main idea of your essay, you will be required to propose feasible solutions and develop human resource policies and practices based on organizational behaviour, management, and work psychology concepts.
