Your final research paper must focus on any social issue topic that you found interesting during the semester or a social issue that we did not cover in class. This paper is an opportunity for you to read and write about a topic that you are interested in or passionate about! The following sections must be included in your research paper:
Introduction
Tell your reader exactly what they are about to read. You can always start with a personal example that will hook their attention, but your reader should have a firm grasp of what the paper is going to be about by the end of the introduction.
Background Research
This section must be devoted to synthesizing past literature on your topic. You must cover at least 3 articles related to your topic. You are allowed to include ONE that we discussed during our class, but the other 2 have to be articles that you have found on your own. You can use peer-reviewed articles, a book, or an informal blog. All references and citation must be included and done in ASA format.
Changes that Can be Made
This section needs to be devoted to what changes can be made to address issues related to your topic. How can healthcare/politics/education be reevaluated to meet the needs of your community of focus? In what ways can society be made more inclusive? Be sure to use concepts that we have discussed in class to help illustrate your main arguments.
Conclusion
Wrap up your paper here for the reader. You want to remind them what your topic was, the main points from your background research, and what changes can be made to alleviate concerns.
