Essay must demonstrate your critical thinking skills. Meaning, do not regurgitate lectures or give simple a synopsis of assigned materials. But rather construct your own statements, arguments and conclusions supported with evidence in response to the question/prompt.
Your historical analysis must derive and cite from multiple assigned materials as evidence (examples, quotes, data, analysis etc.). You may include any relevant assigned materials from the beginning of the semester up to the assignment date.
Your analysis on current critical issues must include and cite additional research as evidence.
Citing should include Last name of author and pg. number in parenthesis. For example, (Davis, pg. 89).
Essay must have a works cited page (first and last name of author, title, publication and date)
Three-page in length maximum (not including work cite page). There is no minimum page requirement, however, be sure to be thorough, detailed and give examples (your essay should reflect college level work).

Incomparison, educational attainment and college enrollment rates are lower for African Americanand Hispanic students, and access to health care is limited for low-income and minoritypopulations. These disparities demonstrate the need for policy changes that create a moreequitable society. For example, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s survey, the rate ofpoverty for African Americans was 20.8%, compared to 8.1% for non-Hispanic Whites(Glassman, 15). This disparity is further reflected in the median household income of AfricanAmericans, around $41,000, compared to the median income of non-Hispanic Whites, around$63,000.It is interesting and troubling that the data and research show such a significant disparity inaccess to resources and opportunities in the United States today. It is especially troubling thatwomen, Latinos, and African Americans are vulnerable to various from poverty, a lack of accessto healthcare as well as education, and other forms of inequalities. This demonstratesinstitutional racism, sexism, and classism, which are all forms of structural inequality.Institutional racism refers to how society is structured in such a way that favors certain racialgroups over others (Elias & Paradies, 46). This can be seen in the poverty rates for AfricanAmericans, which are significantly higher than those for non-Hispanic Whites.Classism is also a major factor in structural inequality. It is reflected in the disparities ineducational attainment between different racial and ethnic collections, with White scholarshaving a meaningfully higher high school and college graduation rate than African American andHispanic students (Garriott et al., pp 61). Finally, sexism is also a major factor in structuralinequality. This can be seen in the gender gap in poverty rates, with women having asignificantly higher poverty rate than men.
