You are the community health educator working at a community health center in a low income neighborhood. You have been asked to teach nutrition health education classes to single parent mothers that attend the health center. During your class presentation one mother stands up and says, “I know the four food groups. I’m not stupid! (Other mothers in the class nod their heads in agreement.) Where are we suppose to get these fresh vegetables when the supermarket is two bus rides away? I would have to get on that bus every two days to keep getting fresh vegetables. You can talk at us all you want, but you don’t know anything about my life and struggles.”
