The health care organization selected is the American Hospital Association. The American Hospital Association has five strategic objectives. The objectives are to provider better care and greater value, ensure the financial stability of hospitals and health systems, enhance public trust and confidence in hospitals and health systems, address workforce challenges, and improve the health care consumer experience (American Hospital Association, n.d-b.). The American Hospital Association is a leader in the health care community. The decisions in their strategic plan will impact the hospitals they serve and the health care organizations that look to them for guidance.
Utilizing the TOWS matrix is a vital tool that the organization can utilize to develop operational and tactical objectives (Wayland. et.al., 2021). An area of opportunity that can also be a threat is the strategic objective to address workforce challenges. The healthcare field has long seen a shortage in workforce across all areas. The broadness of the strategic objective can be considered a threat due to the many facets of workers in the health care industry. However, the opportunity lies in the ability to reach more targets by expanding the strategic objective to include all workforce types. Research into the workforces that were greatly impacted negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic. Evaluation into compensation and benefit metrics for these workforces as well. The information gathered is valuable to the success of the strategic objective. Introduction and implementation of an EHR systems is a cost saving method that will assist in the financial stability of hospitals and other health care organizations (Vazirani, et.al., 2019). Operationally EHR and EMR systems can reduce daily operational costs as well. Efficient implementation of a strategic plan, through the objectives set forth, is the path to success (Sadeghifar, et.al., 2014). A strategic plan can still exist without proper implementation and will ultimately fail.
