Auto-biographical: UIC students often have very interesting perspectives and experiences with nationalism. Some UIC students have families living in different countries or are from communities that identify both with the US and with other national identities, some have military experience, some have experiences being othered (in Robbin’s sense of us/them). Or you might have experiences traveling and living in other nation-states which give you a comparative perspective on different nationalisms. Or you might remember a place/experience that you perceive as an example of the production of nation as imagined community. Using yourself as a primary source, share a story from your memory/experience that you think is relevant to this history of the production of nation as imagined community.
