Mary Ellen is a 62-year-old female. Mary Ellen, a registered nurse, has been retired for about a year and has been traveling between New York and Florida to spend time with her 4 grandchildren. Mary Ellen has been on estrogen replacement therapy to help alleviate her hot flashes and lack of energy caused by menopause. She is 5’0″ and weighs 180 pounds. She rarely exercises due to knee pain and arthritis in her spine. During her yearly physical, her primary care physician becomes concerned and sends her for a same day mammogram and orders a CBC with CA 15.3 screening. Her CBC was normal but her CA 15.3 levels were 50 U/mL. The mammogram showed the presence of a mass and a core needle biopsy was immediately ordered. The pathology report classifies the mass as an IDC grade 3. The surgeon sent the tumor to be genetically profiled.The following gene mutations were found in the tumor.
