Health care facilities generate data management reports to analyze data about services provided to patients. Data management reports contain statistical data in a table format that includes the number of patient discharges, deaths and autopsies, census days, average lengths of stay, number of consultations per specialty, third party payer data, patient discharge destination data. Data analysis is performed by facility managers and executives to determine whether services should be added, expanded and eliminated (e.g., discontinue offering services that result in consistent lost revenue). Prior to data analysis a face validity of management reports is performed which involves reviewing management reports to ensure that accurate data has been reported and errors identified during face validity are corrected.
Instructions: As a health information supervisor at a local hospital, you are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of data reporting on the Analysis of Hospital Inpatient Service management report. Carefully review the statistics data included for face validity. The report contains five errors. Circle the data reporting errors.
