Culture Wars is a phrase generally applied to the clash that began in the 1980s, a clash that encompassed politics, entertainment, personal philosophies, and so much more. The term was originally applied to the eighties, but many of those same battles had been fought in the twentieth century and continue today. For this final assignment, I want you to look at how these divides are often encouraged by social media and and politics.
Because there are no long documentaries included in this assignment, there are more links than usual, both video and written, included in this assignment.
What are some of the culture wars that are alive and still fighting today? Look at the sources and to discuss how social media and politics have changed–and widened the distance between–the sides in the culture war. Consider what those divides mean, and whether or not social media or politics can go too far in the wars. Include information from all of the sources I’ve provided.
