Completion of a case study that analyses learning gain during the fieldwork
placement. Students must follow the Learning Attributes and present a case that
they were involved in during the fieldwork placement.
A case study is a document in which the student focuses on a specific client
situation they have been involved with and where they make clear the work they
have undertaken in relation to the case. The case study or report should be succinct
and yet provide enough detail to reflect the client/ problem/ situation, and their own
intervention as it occurred over the time they were involved. The style can be
narrative but the content should be structured by the use of subheadings.
The following is a suggested format:
Client background information
Referral details (background on the circumstances of the case being referred
to you)
Assessment of the client situation (details on the initial needs/concerns as
presented by the client/s through assessment once the situation has been
explored)
Intervention (details of the intervention beginning with a summarised overview
of the number of contacts the student had with the client and the broad areas
worked on. Discussion of the agreed goal between the client/s and student,
the contract work (i.e., who did what), action plans and outcomes of the work)
Summary of observations (conclude with a brief summary of reflections on the
case.
This case study has to be within 1500 words and be based on analytical approach.
