An annotated bibliography is similar to the Works Cited section that ends academic essays, except for two important differences: 1) it is written before the essay, and 2) each source is accompanied by a short paragraph describing what it is and why it will be useful for the paper. Some specific requirements & notes:
Your bibliography should include at least two sources for each BEAM category: background, exhibit, argument and method. The final bib, then, should contain a minimum of eight sources. No more than one of these can be from Module 1 of the class.
You can find these sources in a number of ways: searching in online bibliographies (such as the MLA International Bibliography) combing through the indexes and bibliographies of printed books, or by beginning with one source, seeing what it cites, then seeing what those sources cite, etc.
Sources should be fully cited (i.e. author name, date, title, publisher/URL/journal issue where appropriate).
It may be that you don’t end up using all the sources in your annotated bibliography, or that you find more at a later stage. Neither situation is a problem – it’s good to cast a wide net at this stage, and to keep your eye out as you write for other sources that might be useful
