Complete Short Philosophy Discussion (STEFF)
The Greek philosopher Plato (428-348 B.C.E.) describes the defense of his teacher Socrates before a jury that ultimately condemned the famous philosopher to death. In his defense, Socrates provides reasons why he lived his life as he did. He is willing to die for what he argues was a life lived well. One accusation against Socrates is that he gained a reputation of a certain sort of “wisdom” (Plato, 20, d).
Please analyze Socrates’ reasons for his definition of what he considers wisdom (Plato, 20 c- 23c) carefully, think about his argument, before providing your own argument to the following question on the discussion board:
Do you agree or disagree with Socrates that “the wisest amongst you, human beings, is anyone like Socrates who has recognized that with respect to wisdom he is truly worthless” (Plato 23c).
This means you should address both Socrates’ definition of wisdom and his claim about its worth.
