I think everyone in this world goes through psychological distress. It’s just that some people are able to keep themselves in control. As a behavioral health associate in a psychiatric emergency room I have developed a tough skin and ways on how to cope with my psychological distress. On a regular day basis I encounter patients with mental health disorders nine times out of ten they either get or come in aggressive. As per my job I’m there for patients that are having a crisis so at times I do have to endure verbal abuse as well as getting physical with patients in order to put them in restraints. After a rough week I usually vent to my wife about what I go through and take a couple of shots of tequila just to relax my nerves. As per my experience expressing my feelings/thoughts to someone actually helps me.
