Here are the parts you are responsible for:
Part 1 Your initial posting: Develop at least three different personal S.M.A.R.T. goals specifically for this course, CHS 340 Health Theory
Step 1: Carefully review the syllabus regarding how you will be assessed: quiz scores, assignments, discussions, and the rubrics associated with each of them. Access the scoring rubric by clicking on the 3 vertical dots at the upper-right of this page (this gives you an idea of how to assess your own work)
Step 2: Formulate personal SMART goals related to your performance in this course in each of the following areas:
o One (or two if you like) Reading GOAL
o One (or two if you like) Learning GOAL (be sure to identify what motivates you)
o One (or two if you like) Grade GOAL
Step 3: List at least one action step you will take to reach each of your S.M.A.R.T. goals.
Step 4: Submit the initial posting four days before (1/29 by 11:59pm MT) the deadline for this discussion (2/2 by 11:59pm MT).
Here is a full EXAMPLE:
Reading SMART Goals: I intend to read the assigned readings and lectures thoroughly, multiple times if necessary. I will utilize pre-tests and take the entire time allotted to take the quizzes, carefully reading the questions.
Reading Action Steps: I will read early in the week so that I am not left without enough time and guess at answers to questions. I want to achieve at least a 90% average on my quizzes.
Learning SMART Goals: I will learn to use appropriate theories so that I will be prepared to assist clients to make health behavior changes.
Learning Action Steps: I will complete the assignments thoroughly and provide examples of theoretical applications so I gain experience and confidence with the theories.
Grade SMART Goals: It is realistic for me to achieve a B in this course. Of course, I want an A, but I am working 20 hours a week and taking 18 credits. I have reviewed the methods of assessment, and realistically, I think I can achieve a B grade in this course.
Grade Action Steps: This is an accelerated-pace course. I expect to spend up to 20 hours per week dedicated to this course alone. I will schedule 4 hours into my calendar on Sunday and 4 hours into my calendar on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights for the reading and the assignments.
