Hello Class Happy Monday,
I observed my then 5-year-old at the pumpkin patch with her class when we got there her face lit up like a light seeing all those pumpkins. My child was on her best behavior until she picked out her pumpkin and wanted to eat it. She and two of her best friends hid and when found they were eating their pumpkins. All 3 were told if they misbehaved they would have to leave with their parent.
In this situation I kept calm. I realized they are only 5 and it was all their first time at the pumpkin patch. I wish the teachers would have made them sit out of the activity rather than send them home.
I wish I could have redirected her focus on wanting to eat her pumpkin I would have taken her for a snack first then to the pumpkin area.
for a science experiment, I would cut the pumpkin so the children can see inside and see it’s all seeds and only good when cooked not raw. Maybe that would suit their curiosity. The science area would be a hands-on experience.
