An analogical argument on the cost of a college education compared to the cost of health care. “Reasoning by analogy always involves likenesses.” (FitzGerald, 2018)
In American society college education and healthcare are both needed. If you get higher education, then you will have more chances to get better job opportunities; the company can provide better healthcare benefits. However, when you have a lower pay job or no job, you don’t have the healthcare benefit. It is not surprising that the cost of a college education and healthcare is increasing in America similarly. One of the reasons why the cost of college education and healthcare is due to the high standard of living and the raise of minimum wage. Many Americans are struggling to pay college tuition and healthcare payment, the payment of college tuition and healthcare costs are increasing faster than average Americans income. With the state funding cut, the increasing administrative cost, millions of dollars lost during the pandemic, and decreasing enrollment; college tuition is increasing. There are reasons why healthcare cost is rising, this includes chronic disease prevalence, prescription drugs prices, healthcare service costs, administrative costs are increasing.
Format your comparison as a Miller Analogy (the four-termed comparison)
State fund cut, increase administrative cost, decrease enrollment : college costs are rising :: Chronic disease prevalence, prescription drugs price increase, healthcare service cost increase : healthcare costs are rising
