 respect the answer length/word count set out in the assignment guidelines, if

Case Study:

The Global Social Mobility Report 2020 ranked Singapore 20th out of 82 countries studied.
After reading the report, Mr. Tan, a student at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, was
interested to estimate income mobility across generations in Singapore. He surveyed a random
sample of 120 students from the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and collected data
on monthly income of their father and their oldest sibling who is currently working in 2021.
He managed to get 72 pairs of income data, which are given in the Excel data file
“BUS105_mobility”. Based on his observation, he hypothesized that rich children have rich
fathers.

Question 1:

(a) Using relevant Excel reports, describe and state the values of three location measures
and three dispersion measures of monthly income of child and father in 2021.
(30 marks)

(b) Use relevant charts to describe monthly income of child and father in 2021 to aid Mr.
Tan’s visualization of his hypothesis. (30 marks)

(c) Develop a summary report to address Mr. Tan’s hypothesis. You are expected to provide
interpretation to numerical measures and charts in parts (a) and (b). You are not
required to do any further inferential analysis, or report the numerical measures and
charts again. The word limit is 300 words. Please indicate the word count at the end of
your answer. (40 marks)
