Part One: Canada’s Food Guide:
Take some time to review Canada’s food guide and how you are currently eating. How do they compare? Take a few days and track what you eat. Does your plate look like the recommended plate on average each day? Why or why not? What do you think of the food guide? Answer questions 1 and 2 based upon this section.
Part Two: The Body
After learning how the body works what did you learn that you didn’t know before? What part was most interesting and which part made you go “wow”? My kids always love it when I tell them we’re learning about how poop is made in class this week! Now that you understand how the system works, any thoughts to what you might want to change in terms of what/how you eat? Answer question 3, 4 based upon this section.
Part Three: Summary
Now that you have reviewed the food guide and how the body digests food, what do you think you could do to improve your overall diet? How can you align your plate to match the food guide? If you don’t want to align your plate- why? (You are never penalized for not following the food guide, just explain why). How will these choices help your digestive system? This is question 5.

Discussion of your food intake compared to the new food guide recommendations.
Give a brief explanation, in your own words, of how the body digests food.
What did new did you learn about how the body works to digest foods (what was cool?) and what changes might you want to make to help your system work better?
Overall changes you want to make to your diet to help it come close to the recommendations. If you don’t want to make any changes or feel your diet is great how it is, explain why. How can these choices help your digestive system?
