Strategies To Increase Fast Food Consumption
The fast food industry employs proven tactics to lure people into purchasing their products, hence their overconsumption. Some strategies to increase sales include up-selling techniques, themed events, menu optimization, combos and bundles, giving offers, kids’ menu applications, and lowering prices (Shcherbakova). In that regard, fast food companies apply extensive advertising, product combinations, pricing strategies, and events to popularize their products and increase sales.
Among the reputable methods employed to enhance sales in the food industry and mainly the fast food industry, strategized and extensive advertising is the most used technique. Advertising is primarily directed towards a specified group of consumers classified by gender, interests, or age group. Fast foods target young people and children; thus, their advertisement is oriented to attract more of their age groups and thus increase sales (Linklater). Some of the techniques employed by firms such as McDonald’s include decorating their environment with a joyful and playful atmosphere which moves the children to stress their parents and insist on being taken to the restaurant, increasing their sales. The firms also use clear and understandable language to communicate to their target audience (Cleary). Therefore, companies engaging in fast food sales prioritize advertising directly to their primary consumers and employ the necessary tactics to make the advertisements work, increasing sales.
Secondly, the firms make different combinations of fast food, extra combos and bundles, theme events, up-selling, and application of digital marketing to convey to the public the new products leading to an enlarged market share. Such undertakings as food combinations are linked to the continued consumption of fast food as a person is satisfied since they can get to the restaurant and food outlets any time of the day and take their meal (Linklater 1:10:00). Menu is optimized where updates are done regarding the new ingredients and other additives done with the addition of kids’ menu to the table. Thus more options are made available for all age groups hence increasing consumption.
Themed events are where all foods are made to reflect a specific historical event or theme and thus capture the audience’s attention towards the foods involved. Digital marketing, where social media and applications are used with advertisements, increases fast food sales. For instance, the kids’ games may be created with ads or scenes where the player consumes particular food, making the kid admire the same and thus ask their parents to take them to the outlets selling them (Moura). The combos and bundles ensure that one can get a bunch of the food consumed by many people at once, attracting a larger group in the consumption process (Shcherbakova). In brief, fast food companies like McDonald’s employ different strategies indicated, which results in the crowds seen in their outlets where more sales are enhanced and thus profits.
Fast food industries use various strategies to attract more buyers to their products applying advertising, pricing strategies, combinations, events, and others to get people to know their products and increase sales. Comprehensive advertising takes the lead in growing sales. Other critical ways to enhance fast food sales are adding extra combos and bundles, up-selling, themed events, digital marketing, and kids’ menu. All in all, most companies engaged in fast food strategize keenly to attract more consumers and remain competitive in the market through the indicated approaches such as advertising and others.
