An ethical dilemma is a situation where, when deciding between two possible outcomes, neither of which is absolutely acceptable from an ethical perspective. In the example below, the person has to decide if it is morally acceptable to keep the package and faces an ethical dilemma.

Here is an example:
A few years ago I bought some clothing from a large retailer online. My package was delayed and finally a week after the date it was supposed to arrive I emailed to ask about the package. They apologized and said it must have been lost so they refunded my purchase as they had sold out of what I had ordered. A few days later, the package (that we thought was lost and that I had received a refund for) arrived on my door step. Now I was faced with the decision of keeping the package that I did not pay for, or should I reach out to the company to let them know I received the package and I should in fact pay for it.
I decided to keep the package and not email about reversing the refund. My reasoning was that they are a large multi-million dollar company that offered me the refund without me asking for it. I on the other hand am not a millionaire and thought I deserved this small benefit.
There is no clear right or wrong answer, some people might disagree with my decision and that is completely fine. There are some factors that would change my decision in the future, for example if I had purchased from a small business who needed my support.
