In the video, Sandra Aamodt suggests that we eat when we are hungry and be mindful of what we eat, trying to stick to a strict diet is difficult because you limit specific foods that you eat. She goes over how when people go on diets they are more likely to binge eat due to the strict regulations people put on diets. She also goes over in this ted talk weight is mostly controlled by the brain so when people are using a lot of willpower to control their weight will not have as many results due to the strain put on them but when they relax they start to lose weight.
I do think about the food I eat but I do try to get my nutrients every day and I do work out somewhat. If I were to not overeat I think I’ll be fine and I will never have to stick to a diet.

In order to live a less diet-obsessed life Sandra Aamodt suggests that we learn to read our bodies’ signals. When we are mindful of and listen to our bodies about when we are full or when we are hungry. She recommends eating regular meals and eating without distractions such as TV.
My history of weight gain, loss, or maintenance has been fairly uneventful. My parents have remained fairly slim well into middle age, it is only now that their new more sedentary lifestyles are catching up to them so I feel I have some good genetics on my side. I have been fortunate to have a high metabolism and haven’t had much of a negative relationship with food besides maybe a small period of time during puberty when comparing my appearance to others.
I think about the food which goes into my body more in terms of nutrition than considering weight gain. I am more concerned with how much salt or sugar is in a meal rather than the calorie count. I think this mindset serves me well as Sandra Aamodt says in her TedTalk that just eating the food we want when we are hungry works better for weight management than reactive dieting.
