Get it written →The PopG program allows visualizing the evolution of populations over time. To do it, it shows a blue line that indicates how an infinite population would evolve if only the parameters that we introduce were to act. On the other hand, it also shows the simulation of different finite populations under the same parameters. We want to visualize the evolution of 10 isolated populations (without migration) of 100 individuals each where in the initial generation a new A allele has appeared by mutation, which did not exist before in the analyzed populations (and there will be no more mutations afterwards).
a) If we consider that any of the two homozygotes is 10% less efficient than the heterozygotes. What values should we introduce in the Table of input parameters of the GenPop program to see the evolution of these populations in 200 generations? Comment each of these parameters, and explain why you choose these specific values.
b) Being a simulation, each time you run the program again, you will find slight changes. Anyway, comment on the results you have obtained. Do you find something that stays the same in all the simulations? Are there any consistent trends in the simulated populations?
c) Now look at any specific simulation. Of the 10 populations you are simulating, how many have fixed the A allele? how many have fixed the allele to? How many populations of the 10 remain polymorphic? If you continue the simulation for 1000 more generations (Run/Continue/1000) is there any more population that fixes one of the two alleles? How would you explain that behavior?
