Australia is both a country and continent that consists of the mainland continent and various offshore territories including, Ashmore and Cartier Islands, Australian Antarctic Territory, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Coral Sea Islands, Heard and Mcdonald Islands, and Norfolk Island (Australian Government, 2020). This country has a population of over 25 000 000 where about 3% of that population is of Aboriginal descent (Worldometer, 2021; Blakemore, 2021). Australia’s climate has a wide range that can reach temperatures above 40 C, in the central desert regions, and temperatures can be below 0 C in higher areas in southeast Australia (Australian Government, 2020). Seasons occur in Australia at opposite times 1 as North America meaning that Australian winters occur at the same time as North American summers (Tourism Australia, 2021). A concentric rainfall pattern is observed for the continent, that centers around the arid center region of the landmass. This means that the humidity levels increase as the distance from the coastline decreases, therefore precipitation frequency is higher
