A goaltender in hockey has so many things going on in which makes it very difficult for them to focus on a little 3 inch black puck. Goalies complete extensive mind training to help them focus. When faced with a 3 on 2 (3 offensive players) (2 defenders) the goalie must broaden their eyesight to be aware of all 3 attackers, be mindful of being screened by his own defenders, and then must locate the small puck through all of the players on a sheet of ice. The goalie trains his mind for such situations as he : has confidence in his defenders to do their job correctly and not screen any shot that might come, he is calm and in control of his arousal levels and emotions with width attentional focus, and this allows the goalie to read the play and make the save.
