One of the reasons that I am interested in the pharmacy field is because I grew up in a medical environment. My family managed a variety of medical businesses, namely, pharmacy, medical equipment, laboratory, home health, hospice, and nursing home. I have seen a lot of elderly and frail patients. Since I was very young, I have dreamed of becoming a pharmacist like my dad and I am determined to follow my dream. 

Additionally, my previous work experience in the healthcare field has afforded me an understanding of regulatory guidelines and patient confidentiality. I gained experience with handling laboratory results, biological specimens, and patient records when working as a hospital volunteer. While working as a Pharmacy Tech, I learned how to calmly mitigate issues such as when coworkers accidentally switched patients’ medicines. Overall, I am well-versed in the components involved with research as related to the medical field. 

I feel that this university will offer an opportunity for my pharmaceutical and healthcare knowledge at a superior level. We need pharmacists more than ever because of the increasing population, the demand of better ways to treat illnesses and creating new ways to mitigate patients suffering.
