is **specific** (detailed and exact in what it is arguing, not broad or vague)
2. outline for at least 3 supporting paragraphs
include in the outline for each supporting paragraph one piece of *evidence* that you are going to use in that paragraph to support the Main Idea
Kinds of evidence:
Quoting/paraphrasing from your own work
Quoting/paraphrasing from feedback you’ve gotten
Anecdotal evidence that included facts (tell the story of what you’ve learned, then include *results*)
Quotes/paraphrasing from course materials (books, assignment sheets, class notes, etc.)
Ways to Use Evidence:
positive support (shows that you’ve learned or improved a skill)
negative support (shows how you need or needed to improve or learn a skill)
compare & contrast (shows how you used to not have a skill, but now do, but putting two pieces of evidence next to each other)
indirect support (shows a skill/improvement that demonstrates a larger skill indirectly—e.g. showing better proofreading & grammar demonstrates the skill of taking time to read over & revise your essay before turning it in, etc.)
3. Outline for at least one paragraph that discusses areas you still need to grow & learn in (this can be one of your supporting paragraphs & must also include a piece of evidence you’ll use to support its Main Idea)
