The Power Of Freedom :
Freedom and women. Each word has a different definition, analysis and interpretation. Each word has protests in a different professional manner and hidden intentions. Let us start with freedom in general or more precisely with “freedom of expression” because it is one of the most important freedoms that exist to this day. We all know the meaning of freedom because that word has become an important title, For our studies and books, and even we see and hear it everywhere, it is not logical that no one knows the meaning of that word, or that it could be denied and ignored by certain people because of their fanaticism and their own thinking, But…. Here comes disaster when we misunderstand the meaning of that word. Not all of us on this planet express our demands properly and without conflicts. There are social movements or so-called peaceful protests and strikes, just to clarify their message and demands, and change what is wrong so that they can be answered peacefully and achieve their goals.
As did University of California, Berkeley students during the 1964-1965 academic year, the free speech movement was the first mass act of civil disobedience on an American college campus in the 1960s. The students insisted that the university administration lift the ban on political activities on campus and recognize students’ right to freedom of expression and academic freedom. The free speech movement was influenced by the New Left, and was also associated with the civil rights movement and the anti-Vietnam War movement. To this day, the movement’s achievement continues to shape American political dialogue both on college campuses and in broader society, influencing the political opinions and values of college students and the general public. Freedom of expression and opinions. There are peaceful social movements and movements that are harmful to the homeland and the people themselves, as it is said, “You destroyed your own goal.”
Social movements have become very effective, whether in universities or on political matters, etc. I gave you a simple and old example, but there is a protest that started on December 5, when a strike was announced by truck drivers, to protest the increase in fuel prices in Jordan, The strike later developed into a general strike in Jordan, as a result of which markets were closed in a number of cities, last Wednesday, including Ma’an, where some of the striking activists threatened to organize protests in the cities of Jordan. In every country, fuel prices are rising, people are getting angry, social movements and endless strikes are being waged, whether the response to that protest is satisfactory or not.
Which led to the killing of a deputy police chief in Jordan. The protesters from the beginning were not peaceful and wanted to draw attention, but something more dangerous than that happened, and I do not need to explain how terrified the citizens themselves are now. The question comes here: What led the protesters to make that uproar? Was it worth the protest?
Certainly, I do not stand with them, nor do I express solidarity with them for what they did, but patience ran out in the hearts of the citizens, and I am not talking about just one country, but I am talking about all the countries. If the heads of each town stood with the demands of the people, these conflicts and battles would not have occurred. Certainly not all of our demands are on the right path or on the reasonable path, but we all suffer on the issue of fuel and the establishment of peaceful social movements every time, one after the other to no avail, which led to that. To the occurrence of conflict and devastation in the heart of the country itself and the killing of a policeman.
The speaker here was the head of the state, and the message was the fuel consumption, and the audience was the people or the “destructive strikers.” It was a harmful and totally unjustified position for their actions. Both parties are wrong, and I do not stand by any of them, and I only accept peaceful social movements, even if they are useless. It is enough that I raised my voice on behalf of myself, others, and every incapable person. And I made my voice heard all over the world. Really that’s enough, there are souls that go in vain just because of our wrong concept of freedom. They assaulted the freedoms of others with that unjust movement.
As the writer Fadi Azzam said, “The price of freedom can be another slavery. Freedom, in its essence, is a responsibility. Beware of doing justice to the liberals more than the extremists.”
