As I reflect back on my journey through this course I will start from the beginning of this course when I began thinking what this course was and what was a social problem. Prior to taking this course I had heard of social problems but I never actually knew the definition or really thought about what is a social problem. Through the readings and multiple assignement I came to learn the definition of what is a social problem. To be considered a social problem it is any condition or behavior that negatively affects a large number of people.

I learned that problems we may have faced in life can at times have long term affects on us. This problem or issue can actually linger in our life and cause us to have other issues and then those issue become a bigger problem that negatively affects society as a whole thus making it a social problem. I never thought about the fact a women being raped or sexually assaulted as a social problem. Due to the sexual violence of a rape that has a negative impact on society it is a social problem. The negative impact can be how women who are sexually assaulted are viewed in society some see it as the victims fault they were assaulted look at how she is dressed she asked for it. Until I took this course I never thought of it this way. This course has allowed me to see a different view about a lot of issues that plague us in society today.
